Right 2010, you are currently a fortnight old and I have to say that I am not impressed.

From the extraordinary devastation and suffering in Haiti, to the personal distress of family and friends, with a dash of the utterly trivial to boot (such as your overprovision of ice).

You've got a General Election in you (plus US mid-terms) and more, so you've got quite the potential - for good or ill - years after you're a memory. Normally, I would have set a few goals or resolutions for the coming year, but currently I am minded to just have a better year, and try and help others have a better year, than you seem to think we should.

Consider this your first (and currently slightly hollow) warning.

That does make it into the "redemption list" for 2010 - and I am pleased you are pleased by a certain sign change.

As it happens, your move cropped up as a positive in a chat Kaz and I had over dinner the other day. It certainly doesn't hurt to have neighbours with similar interests.

I'm fairly sure that by midnight of 31/12/10, 2010 is pretty much done for. The question is whether it has redeemed itself by then or not.

I guess that makes it more of a straight character drama than an action movie.

Within the close confines of our own little family, 2010 has so far been pretty good to us. I figure this puts us in a good position to be right there with you to kick ass and take names if 2010 doesn't shape up for everyone else!
