Maelfroth - Post-Awakening

OK, so this is going to be a bit of a novelty. For the first time in over three years, I'll be posting a mostly honest set of froth. Past froth has either been oblique or in the category of "factually accurate, if deliberately misleading". With one event left, I hope people will forgive me if I lower the old FOIP settings a little (whilst still saving stuff for the post-Event 4 party).
It has been something of a rollercoaster three years during which time I have wandered the field as:
- Markus Octavius Cyanursus, human Lyzar scholar and publisher of the One Hundred Most Influential People in the Known World
- Mykal, a human Mayan Spy pretending to be a Lyzar scholar to spy on them on behalf of a dragon back home
- Lan Xiong, a Kamakuran mokosh prospector
- Azraq the Coward, an avian of Rukh, and tomb raider
- Talon Blackfeather, an Onontakhan scout from the Crazy Beaver Tribe
- Henry Blauber, a Free Isles mokosh contrabando trader and author of the seminal poetical work "The Hiereophant's Cock"
Each of the above was enjoyable in their own respects, but more fun than all of them was Azul-Oso, secret agent of the Bendal-Dolum Hunahpa who, courtesy of his well-resourced masters, went through a number of identities and committed a number of crimes. Tempting as it is to splurge into three years worth of pent up frothing, this is the Awakening froth thread.
One last piece of context to the froth are the Hunahpa Ruin of Dylath-Xeen, a fantastically roleplayed group of NPCs from Event 4 last year, who made Azul-Oso realise that he was losing his identity in his disguises and made him hunger to be able to practice his culture openly again.
So there was a peace treaty with my enemies at Event One. And a tentative foray into the open at Event Two. And then a formal Diplomatic Embassy presence at Event Three!
We had cakes, and fruit, and snacks, and water, and poetry, and... the promise that when the weather improved there would be Hunahpa Ball Game. And lo, the weather improved. Better still a group of Axolotol's appeared who may have made entertaining opponents. So we started to set up a pitch for a game and... well, I believe its fairly common knowledge but some things are best left for the lines to be read between.
So, moving on and to more implicit bulletpoints and frothing:
- My apologies to Coatl for getting his brand new character killed through the group's baggage. Glad you got back into the groove quickly though
- Much love to Xanthan and WhateverYourNameIs for teaching me to be more careful about what I wish for (but not much more careful).
- My thanks to Diamondhead and Arrowback for being partners in the contempt of the mudsnake
- Belated love to the Freeloaders and Rimici-Cappell Future Prospects for being there when I needed people that I didn't want to care about
- Huge respect to Mica and the Spine for doing VASTLY UNWISE THINGS and making game for so many (and also to PD for realising VASTLY UNWISE THINGS so well)
- I kinda have to give props to those who ended my run on the basis of a Massive Disproportionate Grudge About A Vastly Insignificant
PersonSet Of Events - Love to Helly who was kind enough to build my confidence across several disguises by utterly, repeatedly, and completely failing to recognise the phys rep beneath them every time
- My thanks also to Governor Kettering for the note left in the Embassy, which has been duly passed along
And my thanks to the many many people I have interacted with over the last three years. In far too many cases, I carried away some OC guilt about how lovely many LRPers are, and willing to be inclusive of new, isolated, characters, and how I was taking advantage of that goodwill. At each turn, I sought to find ways to screw over characters, but not players. I have gained a wealth of insights into the ethics and etiquette of IC espionage in an LRP game. I may even write a blog about it some day.
A final note of thanks to my enemies for their patience. I do appreciate fighting a near invisible foe can be frustrating, and the temptation to perceive the issue as being only eidolons/downtime tickets can be strong. As is so often the case, perception is more potent than any magic from the Maelstrom.
Not 100% sure what to do at Event 4 (I'm open to offers) but I am reasonably confident that it will involve seizing the "human racial advantage" with both hands.
